Gehwol Mother of Pearl Foot and Leg Scrub Review

Hey All!

Long time no see! I have been keeping up pretty frequently on Instagram so if you aren't following me, you really should!  I have really missed it around here, and thought for my first post in a little bit, I would show off Gehwol Mother of Pearl  foot and leg scrub. that the amazing people at Nail Polish Canada sent me to review for you guys!

Alright, let's just dive right in!

This comes packaged in a nice sturdy box, that is simple, yet still seems to have a feel of elegance about it. The box was really easy to open, and inside was a small paper in it showing off some other Gehwol products, and what they are good for. I found the paper to be super informative, since it had a list on it and showed off what each product will help best with.

Once out of the box, it is in a clean, but again still elegant container. I love the small added detail of the silver rings around the top, it gives it a bit of pretty, without being to distracting. The container, is a solid container that seals well so you don't have to worry about the scrub drying out over time.

Upon opening, you can see that this is a fairly course scrub. It is thick, and you can see the wax beads and fine sugar that make up the scrubbing power in it, these are what will scrub away dead skin, and rough spots on your legs and feet.

I decided to try this scrub out, with my mom. Normally, I would  use this in the shower, or before I showered, since it is a scrub, but since I wanted to be able to show this off for you guys, I decided to use my foot tub.

As you can see above, lifting it out of the container, it has a really nice consistency for a scrub. As a side note, when I lifted it out, I noticed it had a faint scent, nothing strong or over powering. Almost a clean, slightly, and I mean very slightly, floral-ish scent to it. It mostly reminded me of laundry, it had a very yummy clean laundry scent, does that even make sense!? Either way, it is perfect for a scrub! In my opinion.

The directions for the scrub were to wet the skin, then gently massage into the legs and feet. Rinse well, then to follow with a moisturizer.  I soaked my feet in the foot bath, for a few minutes to make sure they were good and hydrated, then I grabbed a small amount, and rubbed into my feet and legs.

As you can see, it is a nice scrub, that lathers well. A little goes a long way here, so you don't need much of the product, I used about a quarter size for each foot. I noticed right away, that the scrub was very soothing. The scrubbing power is good, without being to abrasive for the skin, and it really had a clean refreshed feel while using it. I proceeded to scrub it all in good, and rinsed my legs and feet off well.

The first thing I noticed after rinsing and drying my feet off, where how soft they were. I tend to have some dry spots on my feet, that seem to never go away no matter how much I lotion them, and I noticed right away they were super soft, and felt nicer than they have in forever. I was super impressed by this, I could really feel a huge difference in my skin, even after only one use.  I hadn't even put any lotion on yet, and it almost felt as if they already had been moisturized. I can only imagine how nice my feet will feel after using this regularly for a little bit. Once I added some foot lotion, it became even more apparent how nice and luxurious this scrub is. It really does everything that it says it will, it removed rough patches, and leaves your skin feeling fresh and soft and gorgeous.

Overall, I was super impressed with this product and would certainly recommend this everyone! I really hope, that you all found this review helpful, and if you are having any kind of issues with your feet, rough patches, dry skin, or simply want to pamper yourself a bit, you should definitely try out this scrub! Yours toes will thank you for it! You can purchase the Gehwol Mother of Pearl foot and leg Scrub here  It retails for 29.99 on the Nail Polish Canada website, you can also  purchase a full range of other Gehwol products here Nail Polish Canada has a huge selection to fit all kinds of needs.

KBShimmer Blush Money is Perfect for Spring!

Hiya Guys!!

Wow...This post has been a long time coming! First let me start off by saying how much I missed it around here, second let me say that I did not mean to entirely disappear from the blogsephere all together. Initially when things got crazy, I was hoping that things would mellow out in a couple weeks, then that became after the holidays, then since I got a new puppy for Christmas (which I have pictures of!), it became by the end of January, and now here we are in May :l This long absence from all things nails, was NOT planned, but school, a new puppy, general life, and a incredibly weird eye infection that lasted a month (seriously!!..it was awful!), all took their toll on me, and left very little time left over for my nails. You should have seen the state my nails were in even just a few weeks ago :( They were sad, peeling, crazy bad cuticle messes! Thanks to BlissKiss though, my nails are at least passable! and so today I have some nubs to show off!!

For my first nail art in over a month, I wanted to keep it fairly simple, since I figured that I would be a tad rusty to say the least. So I started with a base of KBShimmer Blush Money, which is a gorgeous gorgeous spring pink, with not only holo, but gold shimmer throughout it. It is part of KBShimmer's 2015 Spring collection, and I just adore it. I picked up a few  polishes from this collection (of course all the holos! :P) and this one is a stand out for sure. If you only get one polish, I am certain it should be this one. It is just so pretty, and the gold shimmer makes it really unique. The gorgeous holo  nail porn on my ring finger is Different Dimensions Big Bang, and let me just say...LOVE...that is all that needs to be said, seriously..no other words...

Once that was dry, I stamped in Models Own Green Chrome, from the Chrome collection using Pet'la's Flower Plate. This was a special release plate for the Adventures in Stamping Facebook group, and it is no longer available. It was a one time release for AIS  members, and was sold in a group buy. I am sorry to tease with something that is no longer available, but I just adore this plate, and had to use it! I just love those flower/wisps things...I am not sure what the hell they are, but they sure are pretty! haha  I  top coated everything in KBShimmer Clearly on Top and voila! easy peasy spring nails! Which is right up my alley since I am so out of practice!

I really love how spring looking this is, winter was a crap season for me this year, although I always pretty much have no love for winter since I love the sunshine and the heat so much. These nails were bright and fun, and they did an awesome job of getting me excited.

Now, I promised puppy pictures at the beginning of this long and rambling blog post...soo without further ado, here is one of the better reasons my blog took a back seat the past couple months!

This is Ari. (pronounced Are-E) She is a Rottweiler, Border Collie mix. She is a rescue puppy and is just about a year old now. She is full of life and energy, and is the loveiest snuggley dog I have ever met. She is a lap dog trapped in a big dogs body. She is a serious baby, and fits in perfect with out family, and Loki.  Her and Loki actually make me feel like I have my own personal Dragon and Donkey (Shrek reference ftw!) She is also a handful, but aren't the best pets the ones that are a handful!? I just love her to pieces!! I am sure her's and Loki's shenanigans will sneak their way into this blog over the coming months, so I hope you all think she is cute!? Seriously though, with a face like that, how could you not!?

Alright guys and gals, I think that covers it for today. I really hope you all can forgive my insanely long absence. I missed it around here, and I missed even more having a place and community to share my passion. No one but the awesome nail art community gets my love and joy of polish, and nail art!  I can't promise that I will be posting more than once a week right now, since things in my life are still hectic and unfortunately that doesn't look like it will change in the near future, however I will make an effort to post at least once a week. I promise! I am hoping to at least get to posting on instagram a few times a week, since that doesn't require a whole blog post, and we all know how wordy rambley I can get :P It is like micro blogging, and is much more manageable for me at the moment, so if you aren't following, now is probably a good time to do so! :D Till next time Kittens! <3

HPB Presents Zoya Gingerbread Nail Art

Hiya guys!

I hope everyone is having a good December so far!? Mine has been really hectic, and I have the flu..again...This has seriously not been my winter, I have been sick more this winter than I was the last 2 years before this, but it is the holidays so, c'est la vie! :P  I have been slowly getting into the holiday spirit lately, with cookies, and decorating, and tree trimming, and of course that has translated onto my nails! I recently got an awesome early Christmas gift in the mail from the super talented, and super awesome Lena from What's Up Nails and knew it would be perfect for today's HPB monthly link up post!

Hobby Polish Bloggers is this amazing group of women who are so incredibly supportive and helpful with everything blogger related. They offer insight, advice and support for everything blogging. I have learned so much being in this group! If you dabble in blogging at all, I highly recommend that you join this group, you won't regret it!

This months theme was Holiday/Winter, and since gingerbread is one of my favourite parts of the holidays, I just knew it would be perfect for today's post!

Fun fact about me, I LOVE gingerbread, it is probably my favourite cookie during the holidays. Not only do they taste amazing, but I also have fond cookie making memories with my grandmother. We would always bake a ridiculously huge assortment of Christmas cookies,  to not only eat, but also hang as ornaments on her tree. I always had such an amazing time doing that, and still have annual Christmas cookie baking sessions with my family as an adult. I really am in love with how these came out, and I can almost smell and taste the gingerbread when I look at my hands!

To get this look, I started with a base of Zoya Flynn on all my fingers, once that was dry, I stamped the frosting drips with Vivid Lacquer Plate VL005 in Mundo De Unas White on my thumb, pointer, and pinky fingers. I then took the gingerbread man nail vinyls, and used the cut out portion and placed it onto my nail. As a side note, the really cool thing about these is that they can be used as stencils, like I did here, or they can be used as a decal by simply taking the centre out and placing it on your nail. Once the vinyl was securely in place, I took Zoya Louise and filled in the gingerbread man, and pulled up the vinyl, I did each nail one at a time so that they didn't dry before pulling up the tape. I then took a small dotting tool and using Rica Polish Whiteout, I framed the gingerbread men as well as adding eyes and some buttons!

I can't even begin to tell you how pleased I am with the outcome of these nails! I am a huge fan of these, and the vinyls made it so easy! They stuck great without being to sticky, and peeled off super easy! I actually already have a couple of mani's in mind for some of the other designs that were in the holiday pack of vinyls! Let's just hope this stupid flu let's me get them done! :P

Alright guys and gals, I think that covers it for today! I really hope you found my gingerbread men as charming as I did! I am starting to get excited for the holidays, but with this flu I am not fully there yet. My favourite person in the whole world arrives on Tuesday though, so that should help get things feeling festive! Till next time Kittens! <3

P.S. Don't forget to check out all the other holiday/winter looks from all the amazingly talented HPB women!

Abstract Christmas Bows!

Hiya Guys!!

I know it has been a little bit, and I am sorry for that! I have had some RL stuff come up :l Sometimes RL just insists on getting in the way! :P Anyway, Today I want to show off some really adorable Christmas stamping I did with Colors by Llarowe Mj's Jacket, and this Born Pretty Store Plate.

This plate's images are perfect in size, not to small and not to large. I especially love that the images radiate outwards, so no matter your nail bed size, you can achieve the full effect of the image on your nails. This plate retail's for $2.99 and you can also use my code AFLW10 to get 10% of your purchase. Born Pretty Store also offers free international shipping.

This like all of the Born Pretty Plates, comes wrapped in a blue protective film, that is to be removed before use. The underside of the plate, also has a paper backing to protect you from the sharp edges.  This plate stamped wonderfully as you can see, like all the the Born Pretty plates I have tried. The plate is deeply etched, so I had no trouble picking up the images, and they transferred beautifully  and cleanly onto the nail. I highly recommend this plate if you are looking for something unique and fun in your collection that can be used for all sorts of holidays and everyday looks, since abstract works with almost anything. With such a great price point of only $2.99 it is really hard to pass it up!

To get this look, I started with a base of Colors By Llarowe Mj's Jacket, which is a gorgeous jewel toned red, packed full of glitters. It is so reflective, it actually reminded me of rubies on my nails. It was fairly opaque too for a jelly packed with glitter! It only took 2 coats to achieve opacity. It also went on super smooth, and dry time was really quick. Once that was dry, I stamped all my fingers with Born Pretty Plate BP-11 in Mundo De Unas Green 08 and Essie No Place Like Chrome (Silver) on all my fingers. I then top coated everything with KBShimmer Clearly on Top and voila! Christmas nails! I had a friend actually mention that they look like Christmas bows, and I thinks she is dead on. They totally remind me of abstract Christmas Bows!

I love that this look was not only festive, but incredibly quick and easy to achieve. I love that it steps outside of the normal Christmas box by being abstract, but it still looks incredibly festive, since the colours and glitz are perfect for this time of year!

Alright guys and gals I think that covers it for today,. Again, I know that my posting has been sporadic lately, and I want to apologize for that. I was hoping to have things settled back to normal by now, but RL keeps getting in the way of my time! I am hoping to have a few more Christmas looks before the holidays, but with how things have been going I can't make any promises! I am so thankful that you guys are sticking with me, and I really hope you continue to do so. If all else fails, things should return to normal by the new year! I really hope you are all enjoying your December so far, and I really hope you like my take on some Abstract Christmas bows! If you you are interested in purchasing  the Born Pretty Store plate you can do so here and If you do, don't forget to use my code AFLW10 for 10% off all your purchases! Till next time Kittens! <3

Born Pretty Studs and Stamping Plate!

Hiya guys!

A whole week! I know! :l November and December always kick my ass! If the holidays weren't enough to keep me busy there are a few birthdays and even a couple aniversaries thrown in for good measure. Everything and I mean everything in my family, happens in these 2 months....it is insane! or we are, since we feel the need to do everything around this time of year! :P This year is especially bad, since I am also finishing up school. Anyway, a bit longer to bear with me guys! The new year should bring in not only a new career for me, but also some more free time for blogging and with that, onto today's post! Today I want to talk about a couple more Born Pretty Store items.

Born-Pretty-Store-Nail-Wheel

These 2mm-5mm circle studs  retail for $2.80 however currently they are on sale for $1.99 for 300. They come in a wheel, and each size is stored separately, so it is super easy to find whatever you are looking for! Also, they have flat backs so they are incredibly easy to place onto your nail!

Born-Pretty-Store-Nail Wheel

The other item from today's art is this stamping plate, however, Born Pretty made some changes to the plate since mine was sent to me, so I actually have the original version. Which is what I have pictured below.

Please ignore the polish smudge, I took these like a dope AFTER I used the plate :l and didn't see it, till I was uploading here :l Sorry!!

This plate is a really pretty plate with a wide array of images, from butterflies, to flowers, to cute adorable swirls! It has something for every occasion! This plate retails for just $2.99, however right now Born Pretty Store is having a Black Friday sale so it is only .99 cents! With free international shipping, plates at prices like these really can't be beat!

And of course this mani was just begging to become matte, so I had to oblige the polish gods and make it matte!

Models-Own-Indian-Ocean-Born-Pretty-Store-Winter-Nail-Art

First things first! Yes, my nails are nubbins, even more than they were last week, and yes I changed my nail shape! If you have been around a while, or wandered over to my F.A.Q. section, then you are aware that I naturally have very, very thin nails. With all the work I put into them, they are a lot stronger and don't peel anymore, but the winter months in Canadaland is hard on them, and I could have fussed with them breaking at the corners and doing constant nail repairs, but honestly..."aint nobody got time for that" so, after much back and fourth on it, I just took the plunge and dove head first into round nails! I think they will end up a tad more almond shaped, and I don't think they will stay quite this short, still short tho! ;) but, I am, in fact loving the change! At least for the winter! I really hope, that you all love and embrace my round shorties as much as I have!! Shorties unite!! :D

To get this look, I started with a base of piCture pOlish LakoDom on my thumb (not shown) pointer, middle and pinky fingers, and Glam Polish Bewitched on my ring finger, once that was mostly dry, I added a coat of Model's Own Indian Ocean over the fingers that had LakoDom on them. Once that was dry, I took out Fab Ur Nails Fun Plate 03 and stamped on the wintry looking trees in Mundo De Unas Dark Grey, I then added some of the snow over the trees, using Rica Whiteout and a small nail art brush, I waited for that to dry, and then took Born Pretty Plate  07 and stamped on the snowflakes in Mundo De Unas White, and added the cute pearl studs from Born Pretty Store to the centres of each snowflake. I then top coated and voila!

I am honestly not sure which look I like better, the shiny, or the matte  version, they both are so stunning! While the shiny version sparkles, the matte looks more wintry, I guess if I had to pick, I would say shiny, since I just love it's sparkle! Which one do you like better!?

I just love the studs, they are so unique. Something about pearls, even fake ones, say classy to me. I think they compliment this look perfectly. They have a pearlescent glow to them as well, which you can see in the shot at the top of this post, the one of them loose in my light box. Sadly I couldn't get it to show on my nails when taking pictures (isn't that always the case!?) but I promise, it is still there in person, and it is gorgeous! The pearl studs have a flat back as I mentioned above, so they are incredibly easy to place, I simply took an orangewood stick and some top coat, and placed them on my nail. They had no issues whatsoever in placement. I also love that in the wheel comes a wide variety of sizes, everything from super small at 2mm (which is what I am wearing above) to 5mm with everything in between! The wide range makes this wheel very versatile for nail art!

The stamping plate is gorgeous, and although sadly the snowflake got omitted, it was for a good cause since the images previously were a tad small. The new plate features larger images, which is great, but unfortunately the pretty snowflake had to go! This plate comes wrapped in a blue film, which needs to be removed before use. The back has a paper backing which protects you from catching and cutting yourself on the edges. The plate itself is deeply engraved and stamped wonderfully! I had no trouble at all picking up any of the images.

Now since the snowflake did get omitted, I do have another mani lined up, using an image that's still on the plate. I thought about putting it in this post, but this post is so long already that I decided to give those nails, their own space! I should have it up next week, with a full review and pictures for you all!  Until then, just know that I love this plate, and that it is so worth the normal $2.99 price tag! Don't forget that you can also get 10% off all your orders with Born Pretty Store by using my discount code AFLW10.

Alright guys and gals! I think that covers it for today! This was a lot for one post! If you made it this far, yay! You get a cookie for your efforts, cause there was some serious business reading today! :P I hope you all enjoy my first wintry nails of the season as much as I do! We got some more snow today, and this just perfect sums up the weather! If you are interested in purchasing the studs you can do so here and if you are looking to purchase the new stamping plate with larger images you can do that here Also, don't forget if you do some Born Pretty Shopping to use my discount code AFLW10. Till next time Kittens! <3

Born Pretty Leaf Studs make the Perfect Fall Nails!

Afternoon Guys!

Today I want to show off how I wore  these adorable, super cute maple leaf glitters! from Born Pretty Store!

Born-Pretty Leaf-Stud

These adorable leafs come in a plastic jar, and are filled with the colour of your choice, as you can see I picked gold, since that seemed to prefect for fall. They retail for $2.53, and of course Born Pretty has free international shipping! Also, using my code AFLW10  will get you an additional 10% off!

KBShimmer-Deja-Brew-Born-Pretty-Store-Leaf-Studs

KBShimmer-Deja-Brew-Born-Pretty-Store-Leaf-Studs

As you can see these studs add a perfect fall accent to any look. They are highly reflective since they are metal, and even top coat doesn't dull the shine! A few things to note however are that because they are metal, they can be a bit scratchy, I have found they have been catching on a few things since I have had them on. I only used one coat of top coat however, so another coat might fix that problem. Even so, they are gorgeous enough to justify a small amount of catching! I have already had several compliments on my nails since putting these on! These also lay pretty much completely flat on my nails, and since I have such a wicked c curve to them, this was something that really impressed me, since I do have trouble with large glitters and some studs, not lying flat. All my C curve nail ladies will understand that one!  #FirstWorldProblems! :l amiright!?

To get this look, I started with a base of KBShimmer Deja Brew on all my nails,  (which btw is more awesome in person than any picture I have seen!) Gloomy weather and my light box made it so that I unfortunately couldn't get a good holo shot, but I promise it is there and it is gorgeous! Once that was dry, I took the Leaf studs and placed them on my thumb (not shown) middle, and pinky fingers, and top coated. I then took Bundle Monster  BM-H11 and stamped in Essie Good as Gold. I then top coated that, and voila! Super adorable fall nails!

I really like that the leaves add a lot to this look without it over powering the other parts, it also dresses up the stamping perfectly, and we all know how much I love to dress nails up with studs!  I can certainly see this being the perfect accent to any fall look!

Alright guys and gals, I think that covers it for today! If you are interested in these studs they can be purchased here.  If you do get these, or anything really from Born Pretty Store, don't forget to use my code AFLW10  to get 10% off! Till next time Kittens! <3

Duo-Chrome Galaxy Nails with Cult Nails Nevermore!

Hiya Guys!!

I want to start off, with a bit of an update, I know my blog posts have been a bit sporadic, between that nasty sinus infection and school I haven't had much time left over for even my nails, let alone blogging :l I am  really hoping to get everything back on track soon, so please just bare with me for now!! Know that it is greatly appreciated!! :D

Anyway, onto today's nails!! I actually did these at the end of last week, but I only was able to show off an image on Instagram.. Today I want to show them off here! My galaxy nails!

Cult-Nails-Nevermore-Galaxy-Nail-Art

Cult-Nails-Nevermore-Galaxy-Nail-Art

Cult-Nails-Nevermore-Galaxy-Nail-Art

First things first, I am sure you have noticed that I joined the nub club! I had a pretty nasty break on my middle finger, and instead of a nail repair, I just took the plunge and went for some nubs! I thought I wouldn't like them, I was worried that short nails would look weird on my hands but honestly,. I am kiinda into how cute and adorable they look!

To get this look, I started with a base of Cult Nails Nevermore, which if I haven't mentioned before is THE perfect one coat black polish. That and Tempest (white by Cult Nails) are my go to black and white polishes. I just love, love, love them! When the black base was dry to the touch, I took out a makeup sponge and tore tiny pieces off of it. I started with Tempest. I used the torn up sponge bits and, dabbed with a SUPER light hand, Tempest on all my nails in random spots. A soft touch is so important here. I honestly can't stress that enough, if you are to heavy handed, you will end up with way to much polish on your nail, less is more! I then did the same thing with OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana except instead of a random pattern on my nails, I tried to put it on the edges of the white. The third colour was OPI Hey Baby, with the pink, I mostly tried to fill out the image, while still keeping a random galaxy look going on. The awesome thing about this is, there is no right or wrong way to do it, and if you find you aren't loving how your galaxy is turning out, just go in with some more colours and fill it out to your liking! When I was satisfied with the galaxy pattern on all my nails I took out piCture pOlish Gravity, which was a limited edition polish and I am not entirely sure if it is still available, but you could use any semi sheer duo-chrome here, as long as it is fairly sheer it should work the exact same!  I simply painted a coat over over all my freshly sponged nails.  At this point you could also add a soft glitter like Fairy Dust by China Glaze, but since Gravity has all those gorgeous holo particles I left well enough alone. At this point I top coated and waited for everything to dry. I then took out plate Bundle Monster BM-610 from the new CYO2014 set, and stamped in Mundo De Unas White. I tried to be as random as possible here, so that each nail would look a bit different. I then took a small nail art brush and using Cult Nails Tempest I added a few more stars and dots where I thought they were needed. I then top coated everything and voila! Galaxy nails!!

Whew! I know that all sounds like a lot, but honestly, it was super simple! The best part about this look is how easy it is, and how random you are encouraged to be! The more random the prettier the end result! I also really love the Duo-chrome look in this, I had never heard of doing that before, but I got the idea, and just had to give it a try! You can't tell much in these pictures, but it really adds a lot of depth to this look!  I can't believe I have never done galaxy nails before, and I know I will be trying this again soon!

Alright guys and gals, I think that covers it for today. This has already been an incredibly wordy post! I really hope you enjoyed my galaxy nails as much as I do! Till next time Kittens! <3
