Loaded Lacquer Toasted Marshmallow gets Androidified!

Heya Guys!

Happy Friday! Today I have a bit of a fun post for you! Recently I bought some MJ and JR Plates from My Online Shop and they arrived here the other day. While removing the blue film and being ridiculously excited at all the cool images (and there are a lot to get excited over)  I came across one image that I just had to use right away!

And I just couldn't resist taking a picture with my S5!

Loaded-Lacquer-Toasted-Marshmallow-Android-Nail-Art

To get this look, I started with a base of Load Lacquer Toasted Marshmallow on all my fingers. Toasted Marshmallow is a super squishy jelly polish, that was perfect in 3 thin coats. Although you could probably get away with 2.  Once that was dry, I stamped on my Android dude using MJ Plate XVIII and stamped in Mundo De Unas 39 Avocado. I then used straight vinyls from What's Up Nails. This was my first time trying vinyls from What's Up Nails, and I loved them. They are a bit longer in length then the vinyls I am used to using, and at first I thought it might be to big, but after using them I actually prefer that extra length, it makes them a bit easier to use. Once the vinyls were securely in place, I polished over them in Zoya Tilda. I top coated everything with KBShimmer Clearly on Top and the studs are from Born Pretty Store.

I am a big fan of how this came out. I think it is so fun and adorable, and even you iPhone users have to admit the android dude is super cute!! :P I also love that this look was really easy to achieve. The pay off for how adorable it is, is really worth it.  The longest step in this whole look, was waiting for my base to dry!

Alright guys and gals, I think that covers it for today! I really hope you enjoyed my Android nails as much as I do! Has anyone else done anything similar to this before? With either their phone, or another product? I would love to see it! Let me know in the comments! Till next time Kittens! <3

piCture pOlish Blogfest 2014!

Hey Guys!

Today's post is a super exciting one. It is piCture pOlish's anual blogfest, and I am incredibly honored to be a part of it. This year is even more exciting as Instagram is involved too! The other thing that makes this really neat, is that Nail Vinyls is also involved this year!

I was given 3 shades, and a pack of Chevron Nail Vinyls, which piCture pOlish is now carrying in an exclusive 4 pack containing Chevrons, Mini Chevrons, Straight and Right angles. One of the shades, Bette, which is a newly released opulence shade, was to swatch for all you lovelies, and the other 2 shades and the Nail Vinyls  were given to create some awesome nail art! This post is picture heavy, and a bit of a long one, so get comfy grab a drink and let's get to it!

Let's start with Bette

Bette is a gorgeous, gorgeous blue shade, that is just packed full of shimmery, rainbow win. It is loaded with gorgeous silver glitters, that made me think of shimmering water. If that wasn't enough awesome, it also has a gorgeous holo effect, that is scattered, but very tightly packed so it looks almost linear. I can tell why this is part of the opulence series, cause wow! It is just so stunning, and  so incredibly unique. You really need to see this in person, cause there aren't even words! I don't know how the gals at PP do it, but this one is a must have for any glitter or holo addict!

It went on amazingly well, especially since it is packed full of glitter. It is a tad on the thick side, but nothing at all that makes it hard to work with.  It is fairly opaque too, the first coat goes on a bit sheer, but the second made it mostly opaque. I am pretty sure if I had shorter nails, or I didn't do my coats so thin, that this would have only needed 2 coats, as it was it only took 3 thin coats. I honestly, can't say enough good things about this polish.

Now that you all have seen the amazing Bette, let's move onto the nail art portion!

I was given this to work with, and I was to use only this! It was a challenge, but in the end I came up with something I really love, (and I hope you guys do too! :P) It was an awesome experience and I had a lot of fun, trying out different ideas, and designs!

I decided on a Domino Chevron look, that falls from a vertical position to a horizontal one! I am so pleased with how this turned out, and I think these two colours go perfectly together. Both polishes applied wonderfully, and smoothly. Tail Feather was a bit more sheer requiring 3 coats for opacity, and was a tad thick, but that is to be expected with a polish so loaded with shimmers and glitters.

I made a mini tutorial for you guys, in case anyone wants to recreate this!

Start with your base coat,  I used Tail Feather. Make sure it is completely dry, otherwise the Nail Vinyls will pull up the base coat of polish when you remove them.

Using the Nail Vinyls, tape off the nail, in a domino descending pattern. Starting with them straight up and down, and turning slightly to the right across all your fingers till you get to your pinky, which should end up horizontal.  Once they are securely in place, you can start to polish, for this  step I used Erie. Doing one nail at a time, polish over the chevron vinyls, and then pull up the Nail Vinyls while the polish is still wet using tweezers. Once you have done all your fingers, top coat and voila! Chevron domino nails!

I think that is everything! I had an amazing time doing this, and can't thank the piCture pOlish ladies enough for this awesome opportunity!  I really hope you all enjoyed my swatches and nail art, as much as I enjoyed putting this all together for you guys!  Also, don't forget to check out all the other amazing blog/insta fest posts today, there is some insane talent out there in the blog/instagram community and I for one, can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

#RedCoatTuesday and Canada Day in One!

Heya Guys!

My #RedCoatTuesday mani is a bit unique today, since today is also Canada Day, and since I am Canadian I couldn't not do some Canadian themed nails! Thankfully this works out perfectly since our flag colours are red and white!

OPI-OPI-Red-Canada-Day-Nail-Art-Red-Coat-Tuesday-Nails

OPI-OPI-Red-Canada-Day-Nail-Art-Red-Coat-Tuesday-Nails

First, let's start with, I really, really love how these came out! Last year, I was just starting to really dabble into nail art, and let's just say, what I planned in my head did NOT translate onto my nail! :P so this feels like a bit of an achievement since what I saw on my head did translate awesomely onto my nails! It also had the added benefit of working so well with Red Coat Tuesday!

To get this look I started with a base of OPI: OPI Red on my thumb (not shown) pointer, and ring fingers and a base of Cult Nails Tempest on my middle and ring fingers. I top coated all my nails with quick dry top coat at this point, since I was going to be stamping/taping. Once they were dry, I stamped over my middle and ring finger using BM 004 in Mundo De Unas Red 9 and used  straight Nail Vinyls for my ring finger and painted over the red base in Tempest. I then top coated a second time and voila Red Coat Tuesday Canada Day Nails! That is seriously a mouth full! :P

Even though this isn't a very sultry look for PLL, They are red, and it is Canada Day, and I think they will be perfect for tonight's episode, well they will work at any rate! :P Speaking of PLL, I read in an online interview that Caleb will be coming back this season, which excites me to no end! I really hope that proves to be true! Does anyone else miss Caleb as much as I do!?

Alright guys and gals, I think that covers it for today.   I will mention here quick before I go, why I wasn't around all last week. I ended up going on a hastily planned camping trip last week for the Canadian holiday, and just got back Sunday night. I wanted to queue up a couples posts in my absense, but alas hastily planned camping trips keep you really busy before you leave so it didn't get done. I hope you all can forgive me, cause I had a blast! anyway, Happy Canada Day to all you Canadians out there, and to everyone else Happy PLL Day! Till next time Kittens! <3

P.S. Don't forget to check out all the other awesome Red Coat Tuesday Mani's!

Models Own Shades: The Perfect Summer Neon

Heya Guys!!

I have really been feeling neon's lately. I love the loud pop of colour  it gives on my nails, it just screams summer to me. So, of course, when Models Own released their Polish For Tans collection, I had to pick up a few of my favourites. These are actually my first Models Own polishes ever, and I couldn't be more pleased with them, I will certainly be adding more to my collection in the future.

The polish I am showing off today is Shades. It is described as a pastel pink neon polish. I would say it leans a bit more coral then pink, but it is certainly the pink side of coral.  This entire collection actually is described as pastel, since there is white mixed in with the neon giving them a softer more pastel look then your average neon, but don't confuse that with dull. These pretties are anything but! They still pack a giant neon punch!

Shades actually reminds me a bit of the original Flip Flop Fantasy by China Glaze, I don't have the original sadly, so I can't compare the two in person, but from what I have seen from images, they seem to share a few qualities, so if you're like me and fell in love with the original, but you never got your hands on it, this might help squash that lemming.  This is two coats, without white undies,  so it is a fairly opaque polish for a neon. It is a rather thick polish, that makes it a tad tricky to work with, so I advise patience when applying. I found slightly thicker coats was much easier to do then thinner ones. It's dry time also isn't like a typical neon, it has a much slower dry time, likely due to the mixed in white polish but the end result in having to put in a bit of extra work applying it, is so worth it since it is such a gorgeous polish. Not to mention it makes pale me look tan, which is just perfect for summer.

To get this look, I applied Shades on my pointer, pinky and thumb (not shown) Cult Nails Tempest on my middle finger and OPI Crown Me Already on my ring finger. I used straight Nail Vinyls on my middle finger, and painted in Shades over the white. I then placed the heart stud, and top coated everything in HK Girl. The heart studs came in a wheel, of assorted shapes from Winstonia.  I actually tried drawing my heart first with polish, but my freehand skills are still very much in the learning stage, so after  a few attempts I cheated and used these! :P

I really love how fun and summery this look is. I certainly think I will be doing this again with other colours in the near future! What is on everyone's nails this week!? Are you in full summer nails with neon's too!? Let me know in the comments! Till next time Kittens! <3

Colors By Llarowe It's Shocking! That A Girly Bits Stripper Has Been Sleeping in my Bed!

Afternoon Guys!

I hope everyone is having a good week!  My week so far has been pretty amazing. Like I mentioned last Friday, my favourite person in the whole wide world is here right now, so it has made for a pretty awesome sauce week!

I couldn't stand to let a whole week pass with no post, so I managed to throw this together! Since, I am pretty short on time though, I will make this quick, so let's get right to it today!

This pretty lovely is Colors By Llarowe It's Shocking. I believe it came out this past December. It is classified as a scattered holographic polish, but honestly, it is so tightly packed, It looks linear. It is on the softer side of holo, especially with how intense CBL holo's normally are, but where it lacks intense holo, it seriously makes up for it, in gorgeous eye searing, hot pink. It was like most CBL polishes in being a 1 coater, however in my pictures I did 2 out of habit. I am pretty sure you could stamp well with this polish, something I will have to try soon.  It is a tad on the thick side, but I have come to expect that from CBL polishes, and it is nothing that makes it hard to work with at all.

I paired this with the stunning sparkly, awesome, Girly Bits A Stripper Has Been Sleeping in My Bed. This polish, just, wow...I SO wish it had photographed in all it's sparkly glory, I tried everything, even trekking around in my yard, and snapping sunshine pictures, and nothing, not a single image even came close to showing off just how sparkly this polish is.  You will just have to take my word for it. It is sparkly. Seriously, insanely, out of this world, sparkly!

The chevrons, as always, were done with Nail Vinyls, which I am not even sure I still need to mention, since I do chevrons so often! :P It is all topped off with HK Girl,  Oh! and one thing to mention here, to smooth out the glitter polish, I used a coat of Poshe Fast Drying Base Coat, over the polish before I top coated. I know some people use Gelous, but honestly, I don't much care for the thickness that polish gives, I read somewhere on the interwebs, about Poshe working just as well, without the thickness, so I recently picked up a bottle and tried it out. I am very happy to say, it did work just as well, and without the thickness. If you are in the same boat I was, I highly recommend, trying out Poshe.

Alright guys and gals, I have stayed longer then I should! The curse of someone who rambles as much as I do! :P Till next time Kittens! <3

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy Chevron Nail Art

Evening Guys!!

It has been really warm here, I mean really warm and humid, and very summer like, which of course led to this evenings mani. With the humid weather, I almost had no control, when I pulled out Flip Flop Fantasy, and Highlight of my Summer, and put them on my nails. These two polishes are some of my favourite neon shades, and every time I wear them I fall in love all over again.

Let's start with, I have  read over and over again how hard it is to photograph neon's, heard it repeated again  and again, how it makes your camera freak the f*ck out, but honestly, I didn't think it was that bad, I assumed it made it a little difficult, or that the colour would be a smidge off...Yeah, I was wrong, it made my camera go f*cking insane. I am still pleased with these images, despite some picture taking fail in terms of colour, and the weird freak out Highlight of my Summer had on camera,  I still think that they came out fairly decent. I just wanted to warn you all, that 1) neon's are a biotch to photograph, and 2) I hope you can forgive any minor imperfections, since I haven't really done much fightingwith  photographing of neon's. Alright back to the important things!

This was a pretty simple look, as I stated a couple of weeks ago, I am pretty certain chevrons are becoming my go-to thing on my nails, and I can honestly say I am totally okay with that, cause honestly, who doesn't love a good chevron!?

To get this look, I started with a base of  China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy on my thumb, pointer, middle, and pinky, and a base of China Glaze Highlight of my Summer on my ring finger, once that was dry, I used nail vinyls on my ring finger and painted Flip Flop Fantasy over it.   The studs are from Born Pretty Store.  Like I said, easy peasy!

I am so glad the warmer and more humid weather is finally starting to make an appearance here in Canadaland. Summer is my favourite season, and not only for the heat and the sun, but also cause I  adore summer polishes. I have a huge list already building in my head of the summer colours I want to put on, and so this nice weather better stick around.

Alright, guys and gals I think that covers it all for one evening.  Have a great weekend, and don't forget, when in doubt, chevron mani! Till next time Kittens! <3

It is Finally Colors By Llarowe Tank Tops and Flip Flops Weather!

Hey Guys!

Happy Friday! Oh, and of course Happy May! Today I have for you, a holo gradient, with some MoYou London Stamping. I used 2 Colors By Llarowe polishes, and a Cirque Colors polish for this look. I really wish I had remembered to snap a picture of this gradient, before I stamped over it, but alas, I forgot (sorry).

Low Lighting,  still so gorgeous!

As always, I want to start off by saying, my light box didn't do the holo on this justice! It is much stronger in person.  I was hoping to nab some outdoor shots, but it has been nothing but rainy and overcast the past few days, so such is life. I also wanna say sorry for the picture spam, I just love this so much, that I ended up with way too many pictures, and this was as much as I could narrow it down!

For this look, I started off with a base of Cult Nails Tempest.  I then sponged on, in a diagonal line from left to right. Colors By Llarowe Tank Tops and Flip Flops, Cirque Colors Sky Woman, and Colors By Llarowe Lucy I'm Home. Lucy I'm Home came out a lot more pink, then coral, when sponged on this way, but I can't say that I mind at all really, since it looks really pretty in this gradient. I waited for my nails to fully dry,  I did not use top coat here, since I didn't want to use to much, and dull the holo effect,  once it was dry, I stamped over the gradient with MoYou London Pro Plate 10, in Cult Nails Nevermore on my middle and ring finger. I used Nail Vinyls on my pointer, pinky, and thumb and did the tips in Nevermore as well.  Then I top coated, and voila gorgeous mani!

This came out even better, then I thought it would, and I couldn't be more pleased with the end result. I really love that the blue glitters in Sky Woman really show up in this mani, and that the colours blended so well, that it almost has the look of a duo-chrome, since depending on the light, and the angle of my hand, the colours seem to almost shift.

I think this is the perfect mani, to bring in May. Holographic, flowers, and bright! I honestly, can't believe it is  here already,  not that I am not ready for the warmer temperatures, it is just that it feels like it was just March, and now  bam! May is here, however, being sick with a nasty sinus infection for most of April, may have added to my shock of it! :P  Has anyone else got the holo bug that I seem to have lately? I think it was the long winter, and the promise of summer on the horizon that has me wanting all the holos!

I think that mostly covers it for today guys and gals. I hope everyone has a great weekend, and of course great weekend mani's! Till next time Kittens! <3

piCture pOlish Instinct with Some Totes Cute Chevrons!

Heya Guys!

This morning I have a simple, yet classic chevron look to show off. I am starting to think, it is my go-to choice in nail art, when I am feeling unsure about what I want to do, uninspired, or just  plain in the mood for a chevron! I feel like, you can never really go wrong with a chevron mani to be honest, and since I am still recovering from this horrible, icky, sinus infection, I went with something tried and true for me!

Picture-Polish-Totes-Swatch-with-Chevron-Nail-Art-4-Chevron-Nails

To get this look, I simply grabbed Instinct, which is the most recent Picture Polish collab shade with @ohmygoshpolish, It is a super pretty robins egg blue, that almost glows from within. I will admit, when I first got this polish,  I thought it was a glow in the dark polish, it is not. I misunderstood, it glows, but only under black light. I just wanted to share that, since I have heard a few people think it was also glow in the dark, anyway, I painted, my pointer, pinky, and thumb with Instinct. I  then paired it with another PP shade, I used Totes from the new Urban Shades Collection. Totes, is a warm yellow, almost orange polish, however when I paired it with the blue, it mostly just looked orange on me! It isn't quite as bright as my pictures show, but it did end up looking more orange then yellow, once I added the blue chevrons.  I painted my middle, and ring finger with Totes, then once that was dry, I grabbed some awesome sauce Nail Vinyls and painted over Totes, with Instinct. I then simply top coated with KBShimmer Clearly On Top, and voila! I had an easy peasy chevron mani!

I really love both of these shades, and although Instinct isn't entirely unique to my collection, it is a really gorgeous, easy to work with polish. Now, as for Totes, I am in love! It is a super easy to work with yellow/orange polish that went on the nail like butter AND it is super unique to my collection. I am still not even sure weather I should be calling it orange, or yellow! How about yelange?? No....yeah, that is pretty bad! sorry, I couldn't help myself :P Both polishes are worn with 2 coats, except the chevrons, that was 1 coat. Instinct honestly would have been okay at one coat on my other nails, I just did a second coat out of habit, it is a fairly opaque polish.

Alright guys and gals, I think that mostly covers it for one day! What is your go-to mani when you are stuck, or uninspired?  Let me know, in the comments! Till next time Kittens! <3

Colors By Llarowe: Bea Stings! for Easter!

Heya guys!

I really wanted to show you all what I threw together for Easter, this past weekend. I recycled  last week's mani  into a  cute, if unconventional, Easter mani. The reason I say unconventional, is because the colours, aren't your typical colours since they are a far cry from a pastel nail colours.

Colors-By-Llarowe-Bea-Stings!-Swatch-Easter-Nail-Art-3-water-decals

To get this look, I simply used Nail Vinyls, at the half moon section, and painted my nails in Bea Stings! by CBL. I honestly can't say enough good things about Bea Stings!, the colour is super rich, the holo is so intense, it almost looks like a rainbow flame on your nails. It is jaw dropping. It was a tad thick, but still super easy to work with. I honestly, have yet to meet a CBL polish that I don't love. It has very quickly become a favourite brand, and I can't seem to get my hands on enough of them. Once that was mostly dry, I took out the water decals, from Born Pretty Store, and placed them on the nail, then top coated with a quick dry top coat, and I was done!

Although this is not your typical colour scheme for an Easter mani, like I said before, I really love it. I think the different twist makes it stand out, and makes it a bit unique in a sea of Easter mani's. It was my way of celebrating since this year our household didn't do much for the holiday, flu's, a sinus infection (me), and a bout of pneumonia (my mother), kept everyone wanting to just relax and take it easy. I can say that finally we are both starting to feel like ourselves again and things should be back to normal in a few days, which I can honestly say we are both so ready for.

Alright guys and gals, I think that covers it for today. I really hope everyone had a great holiday, or if you don't celebrate, then a great Sunday. Till next time Kittens! <3
